I was forced to amend my previous review after having the good fortune and opportunity to visit this facility. My initial contact with the VA 7 years before had been poisoned by ineptitude, incompetence, and a general lack of resources for those who were in the system and cared to do their jobs. Since I have conducted another attempt at receiving care for my PTSD and injured back, I have found McGuire Hunter to be an excellent facility, with caring and competent staff. I have yet to find a staff member who does not care, direct, listen, or express some form of gratitude. It is quite a pleasant surprise. The only issue that remains is environmental. The exams rooms are not being cleaned to any sort of standard. General cleanliness in this particular hospital is below the standards of other hospitals I have been in. The hospital is less than immaculate, but not filthy or unsanitary.

Have been coming here since 2012. I must say the overall care here far surpasses the majority of outside care facilities. I have insurance and can go to a hospital or Doctor of choice HOWEVER, I prefer the VA (At least here in Richmond/Fredericksburg clinic). They seem more competent and caring than any outside facility I have visited. Perhaps the rest of the nations VA Hospitals should take a page from McGuire!

First time into this facility, was assigned a primary care physician. scheduled a physical. Was seen by the Doc within 1 week. all the people were very helpful friendly. Parking at the Facility was difficult but other then that I was very pleased.

No major complains. At times you can get caught up playing phone tag with someone you needed to get in touch with, but I am fortunate that I haven't had the nightmarish experience some of these reviews speak of. I have Never witnessed or experienced any racism or poor attention to my needs. There are many of us and I understand they are doing the very best with the resources they have. They always come through and haven't failed me.
